A series of stories set in a dystopian near-future North America, that are really about contemporary ecological, social and political issues. The title story is about a cargo cult based on the ruins of the Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) headquarters, which is discovered by an archeologist on the 200th anniversary of the Hayward Quake, a fictional earthquake which – along with the United States default on Treasury bills on the same day (August 2, 2011) – led to collapse of civilization.
