Rebirth is a series of historical fiction stories with spiritual, magical and/or mythological aspects.

The only story in this series you can read here is The Hermit’s Rest, which is a fictionalized account of a trip by Winston Churchill’s mother and father to the Grand Canyon. Jennie Jerome’s father (Winnie’s maternal grandfather and namesake for that subway station in NYC) owned a mountain of gold and copper a few dozen miles south of the Hermit’s Rest.

The style of the story is self-consciously formal, both as a reflection of its Edwardian context,  and in order to provide a foil to the narrative, which is magical-realist.
